Vegetables And Fruits

The whole nation is suffering from the effects and burden of raging obesity. Anywhere you go, it would be easy to spot the evidence walking around. From young children to old adults, obesity is getting the nation on its knees. Surely we need all the help we could get to fight this health menace.

As the obesity rates continue to rapidly escalate, scientists and health experts are trying to ascertain the things that could make us feel full in order to eat less. Can we feel full with the consumption of healthy foods?

You bet! Do you know that overweight people are proven to have less of the hormone named as PPY which could help you feel “full up?”

As a consequence, it takes more food for fatter people to feel full so what they do is of course eat more – more than what the body is actually needed for energy production.

Now, hear this very important information: when an overweight person tries to do some dieting or food intake control, the action triggers a hunger hormone called Ghrelin to shoot up which in turn cause a person to feel hunger. Wow, so it become a never-ending cycle. No wonder a lot of people are fighting bulges to no avail!

Thankfully, hardworking researchers have found a way to effectively ploy your brain into thinking you are already full.

Scientists liken the fullness effects of eating plums to cookies. I know your guess is right — plums won!

It was concluded that volunteers who ate plums had elevated levels of Ghrelin in their blood and felt less hungry three hours after eating compared to those who just ate cookies. Now, we have the scientific backing of the benefits of fruits!

Fruits and vegetables naturally contain lots of water, fiber and nutrients which generate chemical signals of fullness from the intestines.

For instance, apples can produce the satiety hormone GLP-1 when digested which also has the power to make a person feel full.

You can apply this trick for the brain to feel full by eating an apple or vegetable salad prior to a meal. As a result, there is a great tendency that a person will not eat so much later.

Also take note of the texture of food as it makes some difference too. How gooey or goopy it is makes a difference to how full you feel. Chunky vegetable soups and pureed foods can keep hunger under control on extended time.

We are expecting more scientific basis to come confirming the benefits of eating more fruits and vegetables in fighting hunger and winning the war on obesity.

Eat your fruits and vegetables regularly!

Beautiful Woman Beautiful Skin

When we speak of natural skin care, it refers to caring for the skin using the power of natural ingredients like fruits, herbs and even vegetables. As our skin is not synthetic, there is nothing man-made that could beat the desirable effects of natural beauty.

Most people lack knowledge on the skin type they have and as a result most are not fully aware of the right natural ingredients to be applied to enhance the beauty and radiance of the skin akin to those of movie stars. As the face is the primary thing we look at the person, it is imperative to take care of it well. With good skin, you can boost your self-confidence and physical image.

I am presenting here some natural ways of caring for your beloved skin. With a good desire for beautiful skin and some common sense, you can be on your way to that radiance in no time at all.

Idea 1: Adequate water intake and exercise routine are two bestfriends for your skin. With these two amazing factors going hand in hand, you are already half of your goal. Drinking adequate amount of water is very essential for skin’s health. The recommended allowance is around 8 full glasses a day but it should be higher during hot days or in summer. A regular exercise routine is also vital for overall and skin health. Personally, I am doing brisk walking for 1 hour for three to four times a week. With enough water and regular exercise, your skin will really glow!

Idea 2: Practice regular detoxification of your skin. This is just actually simple cleansing using natural ingredients which you can easily find in your kitchen or you may choose to purchase herb-based face and body wash. If you prefer fresh, you can use lemon or any citrus fruits blended with cereal or brown sugar for cleansing and exfoliation. Do the facial cleaning at least twice a day and the body cleansing at least 3 times per week.

Idea 3: Lemon and egg skin tightening. I am using this formula at least once a week most especially on a relaxing Sunday when I am free of any job or business pressures. In fact, I almost converted my house into a spa because of the many formulas and ingredients I am into. Aside from tightening, this natural formula also cleanses and protects the skin. And this is quite simple. Just beat one egg white until the whip becomes consistently up. Chill for around 30 minutes then applied into the skin including the face. Let stay for another 30 minutes.

Idea 4: Smooth radish feel. Another of my skin care favorite is radish. Buy one piece of radish and 3 spoons of vinegar together with 2 spoons lemon juice. Blend in some drops of honey and mix all the ingredients using sterilized water. Apply into the skin anytime you want to.

Idea 5: Eat balanced and healthy meals. Say no to greasy food as bad fats are enemies of your skin – most especially if you are blessed with oily skin. Focus your diet to fruits and vegetables as these foods are proven to very effective in fighting the free radicals which could damage your skin and make you look older than your real age. Also don’t forget to use sun protection sunscreen whenever you are out under the heat of the sun.

Idea 6: Wear a happy and positive disposition as much as possible. A person who is happy has an enhanced immune system which in turn encourages the skin to glow in radiant health.

I hope you learn something from this post. Let’s care for the largest organ of our body – the skin – the natural way!

Gardening: An Enjoyable Green Hobby

Vegetable Garden

Vegetable Garden

I have my own vegetable and flower gardens at the back of my house. Just like a lot of garden lovers, I find it therapeutic caring for the plants plus I got ready supplies of some fresh vegetables for my kitchen and colorful flowers for decoration. If you are planning to go into gardening, please read on.

First and foremost, you must select a good spot. With a good spot, it will be easy to do some maneuverings with various plants. However, if you have a limited choices or space, then make the best of what you got. For instance, due to space constraints, you may choose instead to go with box gardening or pot gardening. Having a garden even in difficult circumstances could be a source of wonder as well as rejuvenation.

As for selecting the right spot for the garden, the most important factor is the sun as without sunshine it would virtually be impossible to grow a health garden. Always go with a spot facing the sun. Remember that a lot of plants don’t do well without getting the rays of the sun.

Don’t let your gardening adventure be left out to chances. As much as possible, devise a plan for your garden. Come planting time, your plan will come in handy as it could save your time, effort and even money for supplies expenses.  You have to prepare yourself for some work as prospective garden spots are most likely swathed with grass or with litter. It is necessary to first clean the area before doing anything else. A clean spot would prepare the area for planting.

Be aware that just spading of the ground is not enough. The soil remains in chunks. One must break up the large lumps. The ground must be in a very fine condition to make it suitable for planting — seeds only grow well on fine particles of soil. A seed can be trapped when planted in chunks of soil. Just like an infant who could not be able digest solid foods so is the seeds planted on large soil chunks. So aside from spade, you may use the rake to do the job of soil pulverizing. Now, if rake failed to do the job, then use the power of a hoe to finish what you started.

The main job for a hoe is to eliminate weeds and beat up the top soil surface. Right here in my place, during summertime it is utilized for dust mulching which is valuable for moisture retention. I often laugh at people using the hoe like they were going to hack into particles all around them. I think that hoeing does not necessarily have to be a forceful exercise. In comparison, spading could be vigorous and hard work but never raking and hoeing.

After all the preparations on the garden and the spot are done, then it is time to plan for the planting stage. Decide the types of plants you want to grow – for instance you may go into vegetable gardening or for flower lovers, a flower garden. Whichever you choose, you can be sure of reaping all the lessons and healthy benefits of gardening.

Let’s go green! Let’s go gardening!
