The main selling point offered by those who propose using biodiesel is that the fuel has no petroleum at all. But biodiesel can be mixed with petroleum products to create a biodiesel blend. Pure biodiesel fuel can be used only in diesel engines, but biodiesel blends can be used in most vehicles that are running on the road today. The most popular blend is 90% gasoline with 10% biodiesel. This can mean at least a 10% decrease in gasoline usage, and it’s an idea whose time is now so ripe for usage.

Pure biodiesel fuel can be used undiluted in diesel engines. That makes it a viable alternative fuel even for farm equipments. This is the reason why increasingly more farmers and ranchers are now looking at biodiesel as a good option to diesel coming from crude oil. The nice thing is that they can actually make the fuel themselves. They can grow a crop like corn or switchgrass, process it and use it in all of their diesel equipment, almost free which is theoretically an appealing idea.

The process to make biodiesel fuel is termed as transesterfication. And there are byproducts generated, including methyl esters and glycerin. But the good news is that no sulfur or carbon byproducts are produced.

Therefore, biodiesel fuel is clean burning, and it exceeds all of the standards set by the 1990 Clean Air Act and Amendments. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) allows biodiesel fuel to be sold and distributed on commercial scale. Other alternative fuels can’t be sold commercially as fuel for cars because they do not meet the EPA’s fuel specifications.

If the demand for hybrid cars increases, more and more car manufacturers will produce them. And if necessity is the mother of invention, competition is certainly its closest and most attractive cousin.

Hybrid cars aren’t going to solve the whole problem. We need to find viable alternatives to burning fossil fuels to produce energy. Therefore, hybrid cars are at least a step in the correct course.

The idea has proved so good at encouraging blending that, as of March 2008, the United States is now exporting more bio-blended fuel than it produces. Doesn’t that astonish?

The miracle revival in our oil export game works this way. Someone in another country loads a tanker with 9 million gallons of cheaply produced biofuel and brings it to the United States. Malaysia has been one of the principal origins. And of course, we have Brazil.

Now, once the biofuel load is here, a “blender” pumps in 9,000 gallons of diesel. And voila! You have $9 million dollars in subsidies for blending diesel with biofuel. To make this scam even better, the tanker then sails off to Europe and sells its U.S. subsidized cargo to Europeans which on it face undercuts European producers and farmers. Sounds like another very enterprising operation, right?

Very little of the content comes from the U.S. in this scheme—just .01 content in the extreme case. None of it has to stay here. But the sad thing is that we U.S. taxpayers just spend $9 million to encourage biofuels.

Isn’t this another great moneymaking green idea? You just have to get a tanker.

Pakistan suffered almost 1,700 deaths and huge property and agricultural damages this summer induced by severe monsoon-related floods in recent memory. According to statistics, 2000-2009 would go down to be the warmest decade on record. And 2010 alone could be the warmest year ever in the past 130 years.

Extreme weather disturbances are putting lives and properties at risk on a global scale.  It is about time we get the real facts and evidence and spread the warning to the people while there is still time left.

How many lives have to lose before we all wake up to the facts? Do we have to wait before everything is too late?

Green energy must be maintained. For instance, windmills are made up of mechanical parts subject to wear and tear and therefore must be replaced sometime. Corn to produce ethanol must be farmed. Biomass fuels calls for trash to be segregated and sorted. All of these options are far more attractive and economically feasible compared to fossil fuels. At the same time, green energy uses facilities that are economical to operate.

Above all, green sources got one big advantage which fossil fuels cannot contend with. Green energy is very much renewable. We could NEVER run out of green energy. Take for example the sun – its rays freely hit the earth for billions of years. Utilizing green energy sources has the great potential to wean America from dependence on fossil fuels.

While governments are only giving lip service on replacing fossil fuels and holding  global climate change summits or legislating laws and even telling us what to do to reduce the problems, the people needs viable alternatives. And alternatives should be green energy sources.

It is quite very easy to keep on talking on how alarmed we are on the environment. But all talks are nothing without doing anything concrete. It is time to demand that our energy should come from green and renewable sources. We the consumers are the king in the business world and once we are united in our voice all entities will listen.

The most viable alternative to fossil fuels is green energy. Of course, there are maintenance costs involved but green energy is renewable. We should already be walking the talk. We need action now!

It is now very much possible to produce home-made energy as technology on this area is already available in the market.

It is now time to decide whether we want to commit to a greener and harmonious planet or we carry on churning out toxins into our own environment.

Gawell is very clear on his position that as proven by different reputable studies on the matter, there is a need for continuing and even expanding geothermal research and development.  It is just amazing that there is no enough public awareness of this very essential issue. The development of renewable energy sources is very critical for the sustainability of the country’s economic clout.

For the information of all consumers, energy from geothermal is cheaper to produce compared to coal.  And this is readily available and very accessible by just drilling.  Taking advantage of the geothermal potential for power, a company named Ormat became the 3rd largest producer of energy and is generating business to the tune of more than a billion dollars.
